Local officials back Bassi for House

A big group of local elected officials gathered Monday at the Rita L. Mullins Volunteer Plaza in Palatine to discuss job creation and show their support for State Rep. Suzie Bassi, a Palatine Republican vying for her seventh term.

The mayors of Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates, Rolling Meadows, South Barrington, Inverness and Arlington Heights attended, as did state Reps. Sid Mathias and Mark Beaubien, Barrington Township Republican Committeeman Gene Dawson and Palatine Township Supervisor Linda Flemming. They lauded Bassi as an advocate for the 54th district residents, a good communicator and a proponent of tourism, transportation infrastructure improvements and fiscal conservatism.

Bassi's opponent in the Feb. 2 primary is small business owner Tom Morrison, of Palatine.
