Carpentersville seeks new police chief

Carpentersville is seeking a new police chief after it was announced last week that Michael Kilbourne was leaving the position to become Kane County's new treasurer.

The village sent out a news release on Monday, detailing the requested qualifications for the police chief position that has a starting salary of $140,000 a year plus benefits.

Kilbourne, who was with the Carpentersville Police Department for more than 30 years, was the village's chief of police for the last six years. He'll be sworn in as Kane County's treasurer on April 5 to fill former Treasurer David Rickert's term that expires on Dec. 1, 2022.

The county board unanimously approved Kilbourne's appointment in a special meeting.

Interested candidates for Carpentersville police chief should send a cover letter, resume and three professional references to hr@cville.org.
