Palatine Parks seeks young actors for "Seussical"

Caught in the Act presents a summer production of ‘Seussical the Musical'

Caught in the Act is a summer youth theater group that has been presenting performances in Palatine since 1996, when they performed “Bridge to Terabithia.” This year's program will prepare participants for two performances of “Seussical the Musical,” a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza with all of your favorite characters, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie and a little boy with an imagination, Jojo.

The Caught in the Act program is designed for young singers, dancers and actors ages 10-15 who are looking for an immersion experience in the world of musical theater. Training in all three areas is not required; the instructors will assist those who have a willingness to learn. All participants in the program will be assigned a role in the show based on their level of development and experience.

Assigned roles are based upon a prepared vocal audition, along with movement and script reading auditions that will be taught on the first day of the program. The workshop will consist of training in proper vocal, acting and movement technique.

Camp will also include swimming at the Family Aquatic Center two days per week during the first few weeks of the program.

The program will begin July 9, and will culminate with performances at Cutting Hall Performing Arts Center at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3 and Saturday, Aug. 4. Tickets to see the performance are $10, or $9 for groups of 20 or more. Regular attendance by all participants is mandatory throughout the program, especially during the week of July 30 to Aug. 3, which will be held at Cutting Hall.
