Dist. 220 laughs in face of blizzard
Talented students and administrators willing to poke a little fun at themselves make snow days particularly fun occasions in Barrington Unit District 220.
For the second year in a row, students working behind the scenes have created a YouTube video finding a humorous perspective on this rite of passage in the life of a school year.
The “Snow Storm Shuffle” parodies the Chicago Bears’ 25-year-old “Super Bowl Shuffle” by having administrators, including Superintendent Tom Leonard and Barrington High School Principal Steve McWilliams, musically explain their roles in a frozen precipitation crisis.
This follows up last year’s video, “Snow Day,” which took a fictionalized and quite comic approach to the process by which Leonard decides in the middle of the night whether school will be canceled in the morning.
Both videos are posted on the district’s YouTube channel. Go to barrington220.org and click on YouTube at the bottom of the home page. Whether you do or don’t have to brave the expected snow dunes on the roads this week, take a few minutes to enjoy them.
