Busse Road repairs delayed due to rain

The northbound lanes of Busse Road will be shut down from Oakton Street to Algonquin Road due to heavy rains that complicated repairs on a collapsed sewer.

Crews discovered the sewer, which is 3 feet in diameter and 23 feet below the surface, had collapsed on March 29 and shut down traffic to one northbound lane.

Tuesday night, Mount Prospect officials sent out a notice that the northbound lanes would be shut down for about two more weeks.

Workers were expected to dig a 15-foot by 30-foot tench to repair the 35-year-old pipe.
