Three drivers cited in three-vehicle crash
All three drivers involved in a three-vehicle crash in Crystal Lake Tuesday afternoon received citations, police say.
Crystal Lake emergency crews responded to a crash at 12:50 p.m. near the intersection of Route 176 and Route 47. Police say Robert Clish, 67, of Harvard was backing out of a private driveway in a 2012 GMC Terrain east of the intersection when his vehicle collided with a 2008 GMC Denali heading east driven by Chad Chavez, 33, of Crystal Lake and then a 2005 Ford Freestyle heading west that was driven by Christopher Otto, 37, of Crystal Lake.
The crash closed three of the four lanes of traffic for about 25 minutes and sent three people to Centegra Hospital in Woodstock with injuries not believed to be life threatening.
All three vehicles were heavily damaged and required towing from the scene.
Clish was cited for failure to yield from a private drive and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, police said. Chavez was cited for expired registration and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, and Otto was cited for operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, police said.
