Plano man gets jail for child porn

A 40-year-old Plano man will spend six months in jail, register as a sex offender and undergo three years of treatment after pleading guilty Thursday to possession of child pornography.

Robert Budzyn, of the 500 block of Center Street, also was fined $1,910 and his laptop, memory cards, camcorder and other computer drives seized as a result of the plea, which was accepted by Kane County Judge James Hallock.

The child pornography came to light when Budzyn's Elburn employer last summer found images on his work computer while looking for a document.

Budzyn was in Qatar on business and questioned and arrested when he returned to the United States at Dulles International Airport.

“It was there that Mr. Budzyn said that he might have child pornography on the computer he traveled with,” said Assistant State's Attorney Alex Bederka.

Budzyn began serving his sentence immediately.

The felony charge carried a maximum prison term of up to five years, but probation also was an option.
