Warrenville alderman indicted
Warrenville Alderman Christopher Halley was indicted Thursday by a DuPage County grand jury.
He was arrested in early March on felony theft and fraud charges. According to the indictment, the 26-year-old, first-term alderman feigned a family emergency to borrow money from an acquaintance and wrote a $1,500 check that Halley knew would bounce from a closed account when the friend asked to be repaid.
The grand jury handed up indictments for theft by deception and deceptive practices. Halley's stint on the city council has been marked by his arrest and a censure last year from his fellow aldermen for alleged ethics violations.
