Endorsements: Walter, Schuberg, Anderson for Elburn village board
The five-way race for three Elburn village trustee seats shrank to four when Richard Garcia dropped out. Still in the race are two solid incumbents and a challenger who knows her way around village hall. Incumbent Jeff Walter, who was elected to the board four years ago after having lived in the village for only three years, has shown himself to be a stickler for details while still seeing the big picture. He worked to ensure that the massive Elburn Station development, which should be built out over a couple of decades once it gets final approval, included only half of the 800 or so apartments that originally were proposed. He also insisted the first phase of single-family homes be built before the first slab is poured for an apartment. Patricia Schuberg has been on the plan commission for 12 years, including as chairman. She too has spent considerable time on the Elburn Station plan and hopes to see it come to fruition. And incumbent Ken Anderson has a good grasp of the issues at hand and is a good booster for the village. Candidate Michael Rullman neither filled out a candidate questionnaire nor showed up for an interview.
Walter, Schuberg and Anderson are endorsed.
