Streamwood woman found dead in forest preserve
A Streamwood woman found dead in the forest preserve off Barrington Road last week died of the cold and heart disease, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
She has been identified as Linda DeLeon, 61, of Streamwood. Officials have not yet classified the manner of death.
Cook County Forest Preserve District spokesman Steve Mayberry confirmed that the body was found at 2:45 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, in the Barrington Road Pond, which is a quarter mile south of Higgins Road along Barrington Road.
"We were told there was no sign of struggle or foul play," Mayberry said.
Streamwood Police declined to comment on the case Sunday.
Mayberry said Streamwood police asked for the Forest Preserve District police's assistance in locating the woman. The body was discovered in a wooded area, about 150 feet west of Barrington Road.
