Endorsement: Mulcahy for Lake in the Hills village president
Voters in Lake in the Hills are fortunate to have two committed, well-informed candidates for village president in the April 9 election, when a successor to 12-year Village President Ed Plaza will be chosen. Paul Mulcahy, 61, a retired postal employee and a trustee since 2007 and from 1997-2001, and Bill Dustin, 66, a real estate broker and Planning and Zoning Commission member who’s a regular at village board meetings, agree on the need to position the village for new commercial development as the economy recovers. Both oppose a “continuous flow” intersection design they say would restrict access to businesses at Randall and Algonquin roads. Both say they’re confident Lake in the Hills government is operating well. With minor differences — Mulcahy would like more coordination with county transportation engineers about roads, Dustin would like more sidewalks in commercial areas — they also see eye to eye about where the village should be headed. Given their similarities, Mulcahy’s years of experience in Lake in the Hills government give him the edge, and he gets our endorsement.
