For Addison: Hundley, Lynch, McDermott

Voters in Addison will choose from among four veteran elected officials when they pick three village board candidates for four-year terms in the April 5 election.

The field includes three longtime incumbents — Tom Hundley, William “Bill” Lynch and Joseph McDermott — and Kathleen Willis, a District 4 school board member since 2000 who says she’s eager to bring a fresh, younger face and a woman’s perspective to the board.

This is a dedicated and knowledgeable group of candidates. Hundley has been on the board since 1999, Lynch since 2002 and McDermott since 2003 after a 30-year stint on the plan commission. They seem to work well and effectively together.

We endorse McDermott, whose engineering background continues to be a huge plus; Hundley, who has done a solid job heading the board’s finance committee; and Lynch who is a quiet but solid board member.

Willis is a legitimate option, too, and a fresh face wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing, but we’d like to see her differentiate herself a little more on the issues.
