Scouting Fenton boys basketball
Fenton
Coach: Dennis Cromer.
Last year: 11-20, 4-8, tied for fifth in Metro Suburban Conference; lost 64-53 to Ridgewood in Class 3A Ridgewood sectional semifinals.
Top players: Jeremy Shimanek, sr., F; Colin Wallace, sr., G; Herman DeGuia, sr., G; Adam Kadlec, sr., F; Dylan Fritz, sr., F; Jonathon Martin, sr., F; DeMarcus Stone, jr., G-F; Pat Wilk, jr., G; Tyler Troly, jr., G.
Scouting report: The biggest issue facing the Bison is how to replace the 21 points a game scored by graduated Dan Montano. With scoring by committee the most realistic option, and with only two players returning from last year’s top eight, Fenton will try to make up for it on the defensive end. “It’s going to be a challenge coming up with enough scoring,” Cromer said. “We’ll have to play great defense.” Shimanek is the lone returning starter. He and Wallace, who started a few games, each averaged 7 points. Scoring potential rests with many other players, including DeGuia at the point. Kadlec, Stone and Wilk add some shooting touch, but their defense will be much more important to team success.
