If yes, please explain: NoCandidate's Key Issues Key Issue 1 I will be focused on bringing new businesses to Lakemoor. We are a small and growing community located along a very busy stretch of road. Being centrally located will help businesses flourish and build our town. Key Issue 2 My second campaign issue would be to promote growth in Lakemoor which goes hand in hand with bringing new businesses. By promoting growth and getting more people to come to our small town this will help the local businesses and attract new businesses.Key Issue 3 A third campaign issue would be to encourage resident involvement. I believe it is important for the residents to be informed of new developments and I would welcome their opinions.Questions Answers What makes you the best candidate for the job?I am concerned about the overall well-being of Lakemoor and will make educated decisions. I respect the opinions of the residents and will ensure that I always keep their best interest in mind when tough issues are brought to the table. I hold myself to high standards and believe I can represent our community well.Given the delicate balance between the need for revenue and over-taxing local businesses, what is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain.I believe the sales tax is where it needs to be. We want to bring new businesses to our community and this will not happen if they have a fear of being over-taxed. In addition to bringing new businesses, and keeping the existing businesses, it is important to welcome new residents to our town. If the taxes are too high people may look elsewhere when deciding where to relocate.Talking with your friends and neighbors, what seems to be their biggest public safety concern? Explain the concern as you see it, and discuss how you think it should be addressed.One safety concern that I have heard from residents is the red light camera at Routes 12 and 120. Although I am sure the Village had the towns best interests in mind, I have personally witnessed many motorists almost get into accidents because they are worried about getting a red light ticket. Many come to a complete stop at a yellow light rather than proceeding with caution for fear they are going to have to pay an outrageous ticket. I think this concern should be addressed by re-evaluating the safety statistics and possibly removing the camera.In these tight economic times, municipal budgets have to be prioritized. Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?For the past three years the village has had a balanced budget. I believe the elected officials are doing a fine job at keeping the funds where they need to be. However, one area that could always use more money is the parks and recreation fund. I believe it is important to have residents involved in their towns and adding more money to this fund will help to do just that.What's one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?One way to better our community is by creating more programs through our Parks and Recreation Board. It is important for kids to have extracurricular activities and for residents to become acquainted with one another.
