Boomers rally past RiverHawks
The Schaumburg Boomers finally broke through with 3 runs in the eighth inning to claim a 3-2 victory over the visiting Rockford RiverHawks on Thursday.
Boomers’ third baseman Frank Pfister got things started with a sharp single to left, and Jereme Milons followed with a single and Nick Kurczko drew a one out walk to load the bases for Sean Mahley, who delivered a 2-run single to right.
Catcher Ty Nelson knocked in what proved to be the game-winning run with a single to score Kuroczko.
In his professional debut, rookie Shane Prance held the Frontier League’s top offensive squad to 1 earned run and 3 hits over his 6 innings Thursday. Patrick Mincey earned the win in relief for the Boomers with another impressive outing for manager Jamie Bennett’s bullpen.
