Toddlers to teens return to Barrington schools
All 12 campuses of Barrington Unit District 220 smoothly returned to full operation Tuesday, welcoming students from prekindergarten to those starting their senior year of high school.
While this first day of school followed long-established traditions in the district, the year ahead promises decisions on possible changes to start and end dates of each school year, as well as when each school day will begin and finish.
Those decisions will affect not only students, parents and teachers, but local businesses and governments as well. On Monday night, for example, Barrington village trustees signed off on the latest intergovernmental agreement to enforce traffic and parking violations at Barrington High School.
Unlike past agreements, there are now no restricted areas of the school's parking lot. However, the agreement allows Barrington police to crack down on vehicles blocking emergency access during special events and write tickets for moving violations on school property.
