Crystal Lake Montessori students' play raises funds for Chile

Middle school students at Crystal Lake Montessori recently performed the musical "1776," under the direction of Sandra Doran of Woodstock. She directed it in conjunction with the seventh- and eighth-graders' studies of the U.S. Constitution and their trip to Washington, D.C.

The students used the running of the musical as an opportunity to raise money for earthquake recovery efforts in Chile by selling student-made bookmarks and hair scrunchies, as well as bracelets with their slogan, "Change for Change."

They earned more than $300 that they will donate to Habitat for Humanity to be dispersed to those in need in Chile.
