Families enjoy 'Christmas in the Valley' in Schaumburg
Schaumburg-area families of the 21st century were able Sunday to experience what Christmastime was like during the late 19th, when today's bustling village was an unincorporated rural territory dedicated to farming.
At the Schaumburg Park District's “Christmas in the Valley” at the Heritage Farm, attendees were able to help trim the farmhouse's holiday tree as a pump organ played music of the season and visitors enjoyed cookies baked in a wood stove.
St. Nicholas greeted children in a heated outdoor area, while all family members enjoyed the food, beverages and live music served up around a fire outside.
