If yes, please explain: NOCandidate's Key Issues Key Issue 1 The Streamwood Village has always had an impressive team of board members. However, if I were to choose one weakness, it would be that it does not have a member with an engineering background on the board. As a licensed Professional Engineer with seventeen years of governmental experience working in the field of civil and environmental engineering, I believe I can bring an informed perspective to Streamwood's infrastructure development and maintenance. I will use my engineering experience, analytical skills, and strong work ethics to ensure our tax dollars are used wisely for the design, construction, maintenance operations of roadways, public utilities, and other village infrastructure projects.Key Issue 2 Streamwood Village is a diverse community that encourages the contributions of all its citizens, regardless of their race, color, ethnicity, religion, etc. However, these voices are missing from the village board. There is a need for representation of the Hispanic, Asian and African American residents within our community. As a member of this diverse group, I can bring the interests and concerns of these communities to the village management. Working inclusively, I believe we can perform more sensitively as a board, provide better services to the community at large, and promote well being for the citizens.Key Issue 3 I will provide fiscal responsibility, a balanced budget, and a responsive leadership to the village residents.Questions Answers What makes you the best candidate for the job?As a responsible member of the community, I have the commitment, passion, and dedication to serve the village. I have the right credentials, which include my educational background, work ethic, and years of professional engineering experience to help us navigate our way through current issues and economic times, and also to look forward and plan for the future.Given the delicate balance between the need for revenue and over-taxing local businesses, what is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain.I believe the village local sales taxes are just right. I will not support any tax increases on the local businesses. However, I will strive to find innovative ways to increase the tax base by investments and saving tax dollars We need to manage our tax revenue mix to maintain a balance between businesses and other resources.Talking with your friends and neighbors, what seems to be their biggest public safety concern? Explain the concern as you see it, and discuss how you think it should be addressed. The village crime rate has dropped considerably over the last few years. In most areas of the town, people expressed no major safety concerns. There are some residents living in certain parts of the town that indicated concerns with theft, burglaries and gangs. The village of Streamwood has a Nuisance Abatement program which is intended to define and identify nuisance factors of the town including the perpetrators of a theft, and other criminal activities. I believe the Streamwood Village Police is doing an excellent job in keeping the community safe. However, my suggestions to the Police Department would be to be more vigilant in those localities of the town which have been identified as problematic areas and consider putting adding extra police patrolling and surveillance there. I would also promote more volunteer resident program. In these tight economic times, municipal budgets have to be prioritized. Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?If needed, the village budget can be prioritized by trimming down some of the administrative costs and possibly reevaluating resources spent on village special events. Also, construction projects that do not pose any safety concern may be deferred for a later date when revenue becomes available. We may seek funding from federal and state agency to do those projects at that time. What's one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?Being environmentally conscious and working as an engineer in protecting the water environment. I will be working more closely towards the protection of our water ways and will be involved in creek/stream clean ups and maintenance to prevent backups and flooding for the village.
