New library programs on their way this fall
The Schaumburg Township District Library will host a number of different programs throughout September, helping patrons learn more about everything from music to sports to Facebook.
Author and musician Dan Milano will share stories and pictures from his book, "The Chicago Music Scene: 1960s and 1970s" from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, in the Rasmussen South Room of the library at 130 S. Roselle Road in Schaumburg.
Author Christopher Tabbert will discuss some of Chicago's most unforgettable sports teams of the past century in "Hey-Days: Great Stories in Chicago Sports" from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8.
Chef Lou Buchenot knows that fall is apple-picking time in the Midwest and will present "Cooking with Apples" from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13.
For those curious about Facebook and who want to get more involved can attend "Facebook 101" from 7 to 9 p.m. Sept. 13 in the library's Adult Classroom.
Those who are currently caring for a parent or other senior citizen may get some help from attending "Grandma's Girlfriend" from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, back in the Rasmussen South Room. Grandma's Girlfriend provides senior women with a compassionate caregiver to help with various daily tasks.
The 12-week "Citizen Workshop" will be jointly sponsored by the library and District 214 Community Education from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Fridays from Sept. 17 to Dec. 3. Participants will learn the benefits, requirements and obstacles related to U.S. citizenship.
The Chicago Cossacks will perform traditional Russian and Ukrainian music and dances from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20, in the Audiovisual Theater on the library's first floor.
