Pay attention to the ‘other 1 percent’

There’s been a whole lot of chatter lately about occupy movements, the 99 percent the 1 percent ... Wouldn’t it be nice if even a fraction of the time, energy and news coverage was directed in a positive manner?

Imagine the significant contributions that could result from efforts to enhance awareness for the “other 1 percent”: our military and their families. It seems ironic that some occupiers are so concerned with being able to sleep in public parks, while some of our heroes in harm’s way wonder if they’ll even be able to sleep at all. What’s happened to our priorities? How many more wake up calls do we need?

Why have we allowed a whatever-it-takes attitude to be replaced by “whatever?” Please remember: the other 1 percent makes sacrifices so the 99 percent don’t have to.
