Hawks sign Carcillo to 2-year extension

After missing his gritty play much of this season due to injury, the Blackhawks decided to lock up Daniel Carcillo for two more seasons.

The Hawks and Carcillo announced Monday morning they have agreed to a two-year contract extension for the 26-year-old forward, who underwent season-ending surgery in January to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Carcillo recorded 11 points (2G, 9A), 82 penalty minutes and a +10 plus/minus rating in 28 regular-season games this season. He was injured and slapped with a seven-game suspension by the NHL after he pushed Edmonton’s Tom Gilbert into the boards on Jan. 2 as they went for a loose puck.

Ÿ Mike Spellman will have more on the Blackhawks and Carcillo later today.
