Mackenzie Place offers custom touches

An enclave of luxury manor homes, Mackenzie Place features beautifully landscaped grounds with patio views of two naturally landscaped ponds from many of the homes.

Two or three residences make up each building, which features all-brick exteriors with stucco accents. Interiors have the flow and feel of a detached home without the upkeep and maintenance such as mowing the grass, raking leaves and shoveling snow.

Situated one block south of Geneva Road and President Street in north Wheaton, Mackenzie Place by Airhart Construction features a ranch plan, a two-story with first floor master and another two-story with a second floor master and optional elevator.

Every home offers two to four bedrooms; two to four baths, gourmet kitchen with custom cabinets, stainless steel appliances and breakfast area, den, 9-foot first and second-floor ceilings, full basement and two-car attached garage.

At a recent open house, the Kincaid Custom model received rave reviews from people, said Christy Whelan, director of sales for Airhart Construction.

“People love the home's white woodwork and light, airy feeling. They also love the first-floor office with adjacent bath. With so many people working from home, that's a popular feature. They also had cheery thoughts about walking to the train station.”

Known for its excellent school district with a reputation for excellence and high achievement in academics, Wheaton is one of the most desirable communities in DuPage County.

Its nearby downtown offers an array of new restaurants, antique shops, boutiques, cafes and entertainment. And the community sits minutes from the commuter station with easy access to I-355 and I-88.

The Kincaid Custom priced at $539,000 features 2,736 square feet, four bedrooms, three baths, full basement and two-car garage along with brick paver walkways, patio and front porch.

This home showcases a traditional interior with a metropolitan flair, fine furnishings and fabrics and a warm neutral palette.

Hardwood flooring flows through most of the first floor contrasting with the deluxe white woodwork and trim. Every room in this house presents scenic outdoor views of trees and landscaping amid winding paver walkways.

The formal dining room topped with crown molding is open to the great room where a masonry fireplace and gorgeous tall windows on either side create a stunning focal point. Comfortable leather chairs and love seats sit around the crackling fire while candles atop the glass coffee table add to the room's warm feeling.

The showpiece kitchen features stainless steel appliances and custom-crafted bright white cabinetry with 42-inch uppers and crown molding topped with granite. The cabinets contrast with the dark wood flooring and designer dark wood island. With this well-equipped and beautiful kitchen, owners will enjoy cooking and gathering with family and friends.

Set off the kitchen, the breakfast nook in this home is like no other. A round table allows for light fare or a full meal while two brown leather chairs and love seat invites guests to sit and stay awhile. A plasma TV shows the latest news while a glass door access a private enclave on the front porch.

In the front of the home off the entry, the first-floor bedroom with walk-in closet and private access to the full hall bath can also be used as a spacious study or home office.

The stunning second floor master suite with 12-foot-high ceiling and walls of windows shows a bed topped with a fabric headboard and a dreamy cream silk spread. The room also includes a dresser with elongated mirror and a reading area. The private master bath features two vanities, soaking tub and private area with commode and oversized walk-in shower.

A full hall bath serves two secondary bedrooms while a large laundry room completes this level.

Also modeled is the McBride, a ranch plan priced at $449,000 with three bedrooms, two baths and two-car garage. This home backs to a pond with natural landscape and fountain.

Highlights of this home include 9-foot ceilings, oak flooring, fireplace with custom mantel and marble tile. The kitchen features stainless steel appliances and custom cabinetry with 42-inch uppers. With access to the brick patio, the master suite has vanity with two sinks, soaking tub and separate shower.

Each home includes a complete landscaping package, rear brick paver patio, walkways and driveway, mailbox and irrigation system.

Area amenities include Arrowhead or Klein Creek golf clubs, Herrick Lake Forest Preserve, Wheaton Public Library and Wheaton College.
