Llorens helps Grayslake Central past Woodstock
Rebekah Llorens scored 17 points, as Grayslake Central’s girls basketball team defeated host Woodstock 51-29 Wednesday night to move a little closer to clinching the Fox Valley Conference Fox Division championship.
Alex Scarbro added 13 points.
It was the 19th consecutive win for the Rams, who improved to 21-2, including 10-0 in the FVC Fox.
Grayslake Central can win the FVC Fox with a win at Johnsburg Saturday night.
Grayslake North 48, Woodstock North 40: Katie McGrath and Shyanne Ludwick each scored 12 points, as the Knights led from start to finish in snapping their five-game losing streak.
Brianna Leon added 9 points, Christina Freese chipped in eight, and Allie Ceglarek dished out 6 assists for Grayslake North (7-16, 2-8).
Libertyville 41, Carmel 24: Olivia Wilcox scored a game-high 15 points, matching her season high, and the host Wildcats held the Corsairs to just 3 field goals and 8 points in the first half.
Nicole Kruckman added 9 points for Libertyville (23-0), which snapped Carmel’s four-game winning streak.
Jackie Meier had 6 points to lead Carmel (13-9).
Vernon Hills 54, Deerfield 38: Sydney Smith had a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds for the host Cougars, who won their season-best fourth game in a row.
Smith, who also had 5 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks, was one of four Cougars in double digits in the nonconference game.
Vernon Hills (12-10) also received a season-high 11 points from Julie Pecht and 10 apiece from Lauren Webb (6 rebounds, 4 assists) and Meri Bennett-Swanson (5 rebounds, 5 steals, 3 blocks). Smith and Pecht each sank three 3-pointers.
