Tuesday services for Fox Lake man killed in Round Lake car crash
Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday for a 19-year-old Fox Lake man who was killed in a Round Lake car crash, family members said.
Michael Hermes died Wednesday when he lost control of the vehicle he was driving at Route 120 and Wilson Road and crashed. Three children aged 14 and younger were also injured in the single-vehicle accident.
Round Lake Police Deputy Chief Francis Foy said Hermes was babysitting the three children. The 14-year-old in the front passenger seat was Hermes' brother, and the two children in the back seat - ages 11 and 9 - both lived at the same house as Hermes.
Foy also said speed played a factor in the accident.
The 14-year-old and 9-year-old boys were were treated and released from Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
The 11-year-old girl was initially taken to Advocate Advocate Condell Medical Center before being transferred to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge where she is in intensive care, Foy said.
Visitation is Monday, 5 to 9 p.m. at KK Hamsher's Funeral Home, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Road, Fox Lake. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter's Church, 557 Lake St., Antioch.
