Don’t sell city assets at fire-sale prices

We strongly support John Prendiville’s candidacy for mayor of Wheaton and his position on the redevelopment of the former Hubble Middle School property. John takes a long-term view that taxpayer assets shouldn’t be sold at fire-sale prices.

His understanding of the issues is thorough and practical. The prospect of Hubble becoming a meaningful net contributor to the tax rolls, especially after costs such as demolition and other developer incentives, is illusory. John’s long-term vision of turning this property into a central recreation center, possibly including indoor swimming and soccer facilities, will attract the young families that Wheaton needs to remain a vibrant and growing community.

Vote for John Prendiville for Mayor of Wheaton on April 5. Wheaton deserves an analytical, forward-looking leader.
