GOP is forgetting its promise of jobs
The Republicans came to control the House of Representatives on the promise of jobs, economic enhancement and budget control. So far they have not created a single job but have set up layoffs at the state level through their slicing of state subsidies. Of course we’ll save money by not paying for gas for idled police cars. We’ll save money on darkened classrooms since teachers will go, too. Hopefully you won’t get put on hold when you dial 911.
Family planning will take a hit (especially poor women who are beneath Republican recognition anyway) under the guise of cutting of federal dollars for abortions. Never mind that it is already against the law to use federal dollars for abortions.
Thank heaven that those tax breaks for millionaires who have spent the last two years not creating jobs were preserved so that Goldman Sachs et al could continue to pay those multimillion-dollar bonuses for the magnificent job they did at siphoning off federal tax dollars for the last few years after helping to wreck the economy. Those so called “small business” hedge funds, stock brokers, etc., have also been busy not creating jobs too. Mergers have been up (which by definition create layoffs by eliminating jobs and enhancing investment banks coffers).
When the old question of “are you better off today” comes up, it should be fairly easily answered depending on whether you are a Republican or Democrat.
