Prospect High School in Mount Prospect Friday made grief counselors available to students in the wake of a male sophomore's death, which the Cook County medical examiner's office determined to be a suicide.
Principal Kurt Laakso informed the school Friday morning after meeting with and receiving permission from the student's family on Thursday night.
Parents of Prospect students also were informed of the death through an e-mail sent by Laakso early Friday morning. Services for the student were still pending Friday night.
