Library motorcoach heads to Chicago Flower and Garden Show
Flowers meet fashion in this year's Chicago Flower and Garden Show — the destination of a Schaumburg Township District Library day trip from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 14 at Chicago's Navy Pier.
Seats are still available and may be reserved by calling (847) 923-3347, or stopping by the Information/Magazines Desk on the second floor of the library, 130 S. Roselle Road, Schaumburg.
The $38 fee per person may be paid by phone, using a credit card, or in person. Fee includes admission and transportation via the library's motorcoach, which boards in the parking lot of the central library.
This year's theme, “Hort Couture” will offer displays with vibrant colors and rich textures. According to the official Web site, “the worlds of fashion and horticulture will collide, creating an experience that rivals the hottest runway show or A-list afterparty.”
Attendees will have the afternoon free to stroll the show grounds, attend demonstrations, stop for lunch, walk along Navy Pier, and simply take in an abundance of beauty. Demonstrations include (but are not limited to) a 12:30 p.m. presentation by world renowned floral designer Michael Gaffney of the Chicago School of Flower Design.
Additionally, a hands-on, 30-minute “Potting Party” (not affiliated with the library) will be held at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. for a cost of $20 per person. Participants will take home their potting creation.
Seats are still available for this annual trip. Call or stop by the central library to reserve your spot.
