Memory Care residents create care packages for seniors in need

A group of memory care residents is preparing care packages for local seniors in need now through December at Emerald Place, 1879 Chestnut Ave., Glenview.

"Many of our residents are lifelong volunteers committed to making their community a better place to live," said Kim Reichert, community relations director at Emerald Place. "They continue to want to help others, and that's the focus of the Seniors Serving Seniors program."

The memory care community is seeking donations of items such as blankets, books, coffee mugs, water bottles, hats, mittens, purchased treats, letters and cards, all of which will be used for the care packages.

Items may be dropped off in a box located outside the community entrance through December.

Emerald Place hopes to continue other types of community outreach throughout the year through its Seniors Serving Seniors program.

Emerald Place is operated by Anthem Memory Care, whose core purpose is to protect, engage, and love people living with memory loss and is committed to providing understanding and significance to people with Alzheimer's disease and other types of dementia.
