One person hurt in early morning Roselle house fire

One person was hurt in an early morning house fire in Roselle Friday.

Firefighters were called to the one-story, single-family home on the 0-99 block of Turner Avenue just after 6:45 a.m.

Firefighters encountered heavy smoke and rescued one resident, who was transported to a hospital for treatment. The condition of the injured resident is unknown.

The fire caused extensive damage to the basement, fire officials said. No damage estimate was immediately available.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
