Oakton Area Public Meeting
The Village of Mount Prospect is holding a Public Meeting regarding the Oakton Area on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 from 3-5 p.m. The meeting will be held at Village Hall, 50 S. Emerson Street in the Farley Community Room, 1st Floor. Topics of discussion include potential annexation into the area as well as water system expansion. A special presentation will be held at 4:00 p.m. regarding the potential water system expansion.
The Village is exploring the potential annexation of the area bounded by I-90 and Oakton Street, including Hamilton Road, Diane East and Elizabeth Drive. The annexation of properties west of Higgins Creek will allow the Village to provide services to this area including police, fire, water service and more. Some parcels along Oakton east of Higgins Creek were incorporated into the Village through annexation in May 2017.
In addition, the Village is proposing to expand its Lake Michigan water service to areas along the Oakton corridor which are not currently provided with municipal water service. The cost of this project could be paid for through a variety of funding sources, including the creation of a Special Service Area (SSA).
Village staff will be available at the June 25th meeting to answer any questions. If you are unable to attend the meeting, have questions or concerns you wish to share, please contact: Sean Dorsey, Director of Public Works concerning the water service expansion at 847/870-5640 or publicworksdept@mountprospect.org.
