Recount starting in Indiana Democratic congressional primary
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) - Work is starting on a recount to confirm the winner of the Democratic primary for southwestern Indiana's congressional seat.
The Indiana Recount Commission is conducting the review of 8th District results that showed Ron Drake leading former state Rep. David Orentlicher (OR'-ent-lik-er) by 68 votes out of nearly 60,000 cast for the May primary. The winner will face Republican Rep. Larry Bucshon (boo-SHAHN') in the November election.
Orentlicher tells the (Terre Haute) Tribune-Star (http://bit.ly/29AYiAC ) that ballots were being inspected in three of the district's 19 counties on Thursday, after which the recount work will start. He says that could be finished by the end of July.
Drake has complained the recount is cutting into his time campaigning against Bucshon, who's seeking a fourth term in Congress.
