Mount Prospect Centennial Website goes live
Citizens interested in checking out Mount Prospect Centennial events and contests, as well as in learning about Mount Prospect history and interesting facts, may now visit the Centennial Commission's new website at mountprospect100.com.
A year in development, it went live on Feb. 1, according to Jean Murphy, Centennial Commission co-chair.
"The site includes a historical timeline for the village, information on historical figures, photos of important sites as they looked then and as they look now, a Centennial store link which will progressively offer more products as the celebration progresses, resources for finding out more about Mount Prospect history and, most importantly, a calendar of Centennial events," Murphy said.
"You will be able to keep up with upcoming Centennial celebrations as well as Centennial-themed events run by local clubs, organizations and governmental entities. Keep in mind that it will continue to evolve throughout the celebration, so be sure to check back regularly to see new digital exhibits and much more," added webmaster Lindsay Rice.
Mount Prospect's Centennial celebration is being planned by an 11-member volunteer commission which is raising money through selling sponsorships and commemorative items and is responsible for coordinating celebratory events and encouraging residents to become more knowledgeable about the village's rich history.
