Ceremony for Island Lake star

The Historical Society of Island Lake on Saturday will host a rededication ceremony for the old star that long has decorated a local water tower. The star recently was removed so its bulbs could be replaced with LED lights. The ceremony is set for 6 p.m. at Culver's, 203 E. State Road. A plaque will be placed at the base of the tower, which is on Janet Drive west of Route 176. The star initially was installed in 1965.
