Bills' McCoy bears no grudge following Jim Kelly's criticism

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) - LeSean McCoy bears no hard feelings toward Jim Kelly after the Hall of Fame quarterback criticized the Buffalo Bills running back for sitting on the field during the national anthem last weekend.

McCoy says he informed Kelly during an exchange of texts that Kelly has nothing to apologize for and that he is entitled to his opinion. McCoy says he hasn't lost any respect toward Kelly and says the former Bills star was simply "being human" in expressing what he felt.

The only issue McCoy had was that Kelly could have shared his concerns directly rather than express them on his weekly radio show on Monday.

Kelly told Buffalo's WGRF-Radio he disagreed with any player who protested during the anthem before singling out McCoy. Kelly said he "lost a lot of respect" for the player after McCoy sat on the turf and stretched while the "Star Spangled Banner" was performed before Buffalo's home game against Denver on Sunday.

Kelly later tempered his criticism by saying he agrees with the reason players chose to hold a peaceful demonstration during games last weekend.

Bills defensive end Jerry Hughes was upset with the initial criticisms and accused Kelly of attempting to divide the team.
