Schaumburg village facilities closure to begin March 23

With the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic continuing to spread in Illinois, Schaumburg Mayor Tom Dailly on Friday declared a state of emergency and announced the closure of public village facilities that will begin Monday, March 23.

The declaration gives village leaders increased ability to address issues such as canceling nonessential in-person meetings, suspending water service terminations, and allowing additional flexibility for matters involving village employees.

The declaration also gives the village the ability to apply for federal reimbursement for certain expenditures related to the disaster if funds become available in the future.

At it's March 24 meeting, the Schaumburg village board is expected to authorize the declaration to extend through April 30.
