Schaumburg seeks public feedback on police department
As part of its program to retain its internationally accredited status, the Schaumburg Police Department is asking the public to provide feedback on how the police department complies with professional standards.
Administered by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), the accreditation program requires police agencies to comply with standards in the areas of policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support services. Schaumburg police in 1986 became the first law enforcement agency in Illinois to gain accreditation through CALEA.
The CALEA assessment team will host a public comment session at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, in the Community Room at the Schaumburg Police Department, 1000 W. Schaumburg Road, Schaumburg.
The assessment team also will accept telephone comments at (847) 348-7035 between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5. The phone line will be answered by a member of the CALEA assessment team.
Written comments also may be sent to Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), 13575 Heathcote Blvd., Suite 320, Gainesville, VA 20155.
