Schaumburg Summer Theatre Announces Auditions
Auditions for the Schaumburg Summer Theater production of "Ragtime" at the Al Larson Prairie Center for the Arts will be held on May 22 and 23. An audition appointment is required. Schaumburg Summer Theater is open to all high school and college students (ages 25 and under).
Vocal and reading auditions for leads, supporting roles, and chorus will take place on Tuesday, May 22 and Wednesday, May 23 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. For the vocal audition, a 32 bar musical theatre song excerpt is required (no pop or rock songs please). A piano accompanist will be provided at auditions. Auditions for speaking roles will include a reading from the script.
Additionally, there are two children's roles for which separate auditions will be held on May 20. These are the roles of Little Boy (Age 8 to 12) and Little Girl (Age 7 to 11). Children are asked to prepare and sing an excerpt from "Ragtime." A piano accompanist will be provided. Children auditioning will also be asked to read from the script.

Callbacks will be on Thursday, May 24 from 7 pm - 9:30 pm by invitation.
If selected for a role, participants must pay the registration fee of $100.00, payable first day of rehearsals (Monday, June 4). Auditions, rehearsals and shows will be held at the Al Larson Prairie Center for the Arts, located at 201 Schaumburg Ct., in Schaumburg. The first rehearsal (full cast) will be held on Monday, June 4 at 7 pm, and rehearsals will run Sunday - Thursday evenings until performances begin (3-5 nights a week).
The Schaumburg Summer Theater will present five performances of "Ragtime" - Friday, July 27 (7 pm), Saturday, July 28 (7 pm), Friday, August 3 (7 pm), Saturday, August 4 (7 pm), and Sunday, August 5 (2 pm).
