There are qualifications. Suburban Cook County residents must be a senior or person with a disability requiring in-home assistance; or have to use adaptive equipment (ventilator, wheelchair, etc.) and/or accessible transportation to leave home; and leaving home is not an option due to considerable, taxing effort.
People can sign up for this service by calling the CCDPH hotline at (833) 308-1988 from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. weekdays and from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturdays. There is information on COVID-19 at cookcountypublichealth.org.
Last chance
The deadline to sign up for Northbrook Park District adult softball leagues that play weekly at Techny Prairie Park and Fields is 5 p.m. April 23.
It's likely that if you don't have a team already you are too late, but there also is a "free agent signup form" on which you can register. The park district will then share contact information for teams that are looking for additional players, though the park district can't promise placement on a team. But if so, a team captain will contact the "free agent" directly.
Visit the Northbrook Park District at www.nbparks.org, select the Programs tab, and softball information is among the array of options available. It's also listed at the bottom of the main landing page, "Adult Leagues" in the Featured Activities section.
