Cary police offering free vouchers to kids wearing helmets

Beginning on June 1, the Cary Police Department is joining with several Cary businesses in an incentive program to encourage children to wear a helmet while riding a bike, scooter, or roller blades.

Patrol officers will issue vouchers to children, age 13 and younger, who are seen wearing helmets and other protective gear while on their bikes, scooters or blades.

Cary resident Dr. Maggie Stefani from Pediatric Associations in Barrington asked for donations of free vouchers for ice cream cones from Dairy Queen and McDonald's, french fries from Breaking Bread, milkshake from Kojaks and custard from Culvers.
