Northbrook Park District swears in new board
The Northbrook Park District board welcomed a newly elected member and retained two incumbents after saying goodbye to a distinguished commissioner.
Elected in April, Michael Goodman was sworn in as a new commissioner at the May 26 board meeting. He takes the position after Penelope Randel, a commissioner since 1993, decided not to seek reelection. Vice President Lisa Chalem, a member of the Board since 2016, and Commissioner Michael Schyman, a member since 2009, will retain their seats.
A lifelong resident of Northbrook, Goodman joined the board as a way to give back after the many positive experiences he and his family, which includes his wife Lindsay and two children, Max and Sydney, have enjoyed through Northbrook Park District activities and events.
"I believe it's my responsibility to play a part to ensure the district's long-standing tradition of being a national leader in innovative programming, financial management, collaborative community partnerships and environmental stewardship," Goodman said. "I am committed to supporting and establishing policies that enable and position the staff to fulfill the mission and vision of the park district."
