Hawthorn District 73 Seeking Candidate For Board Vacancy

Hawthorn School District 73 is currently searching for candidates to fill a vacancy on the Board of Education. The vacancy resulted from the resignation of Julie Simpson and will be filled by appointment for a term ending in April 2025. The Board will select an eligible candidate and the appointment will take effect on June 15, 2023.

Eligibility requirements for the board appointment include being a United States citizen, at least 18 years old, a resident of Illinois and District 73 for at least one year immediately preceding the appointment, a registered voter, not a child sex offender, not holding another incompatible public office, not having a prohibited interest in any contract with the district, not being a school trustee, and not holding certain types of prohibited state or federal employment.

Once you've completed the required application form, along with your resume, you can submit it to Jessica Flores, the Board Secretary, either by emailing it to floresj@hawthorn73.org or delivering it in person to the Hawthorn District Office located at 841 W. End Court. The deadline for submitting your application is Friday, May 12 at 4:00 pm.

The appointment will be made by a majority vote of the District 73 Board of Education.
