Boomers' win streak hits 3 games
In yet another come-from-behind win, The Schaumburg Boomers extended their winning streak to three as they defeated the Florence Freedom 8-3.
The Boomers trailed 3-1 entering the fifth inning, but sent eight batters to the plate including the hero from Tuesday night's game, Mark Nelson, who gave the Boomers the lead with a two-RBI double to left. Schaumburg would add three insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to secure the victory.
Scott Schultz pitched 6 strong innings allowing 3 runs and only 1 earned. Paul Kronenfeld extended his hitting streak to 10 games with a one-out single in the fourth. The Boomers bullpen continued its dominance as Derek DeYoung and Patrick Dolan retired every batter they faced in the last three innings.
The Boomers aim for their first sweep of the season Thursday night at 7:30 with Gunnar Kines looking for his first win of the year.
