McHenry man hurt in crash near Cary
A 57-year-old McHenry man was entrapped inside his vehicle after it struck a tree about 10:50 p.m. Thursday near Cary, the Lake County Sheriff's Office said Friday in a news release. Due to the serious damage, it took over an hour for the man to be extricated from the vehicle.
The man was flown in a Flight for Life helicopter to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville where he remains in the hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, according to the release.
Preliminary investigation indicates the man was traveling eastbound on West Fox River Road, when his 2013 Toyota Highlander left the roadway at West Short Street.
Alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash, according to the news release. The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff's Office.
