Kyle Baun, Chicago Blackhawks agree to contract extension

Forward Kyle Baun, who had an impressive training camp this season with the Chicago Blackhawks, has agreed to a two-year contract extension with the club, team officials announced Thursday.

The agreement runs through the 2017-18 NHL season.

Baun, a 23-year-old native of Toronto, opened the season with the Blackhawks after contributing 3 goals and 1 assist in five preseason games. The 6-foot-2, 204-pound right winger also impressed coaches with his hitting before he was assigned to Rockford on Oct. 16.

Baun has played just 22 AHL games with the IceHogs this season, missing nearly three months due to an injury suffered on Nov. 14.
