Boys volleyball: Hersey takes fourth at Glenbrook North

Hersey's boys volleyball team finished fourth in the tournament hosted by Glenbrook North on Saturday.
The Huskies split a pair in pool play, falling to Barrington 25-21 and 25-17 and topping Schurz in two sets
Hersey outlasted Evanston 25-23, 23-25, 25-17 in the quarterfinals before dropping a 21-25, 28-26, 25-22 decision to MSL East champ Buffalo Grove in the semis.
In the third-place matchup, Barrington topped Hersey 20-25, 25-22, 25-20.
Hersey's Angelo Coniglio earned a spot on the all-tournament team after finishing 126-of-152 hitting for a team-best 62 kills. Other top attackers included Dan Swan (33 kills), Matt Hopkins (24 kills) and Jacob Mailloux (22 kills).
Vince Reisel finished with 127 assists, Justin Hong had 69 digs and Ryan Bayerle had 9 blocks.
• Elk Grove's boys volleyball team produced a nearly perfect effort against five teams in tournament play hosted by Little Village on Saturday.
The Grens needed three sets against Wheaton Academy, winning 18-21, 21-11, 15-8, but needed only two sets to top Jones, De La Salle, Cristo Rey and Curie.
Top performers for Elk Grove included Kevin Braceros (61-68 hitting, 34 kills), Connor Emmerich (37-40, 29 kills, 9 blocks), Shivam Patel (26 kills), Anthony Prochenski (12 aces, 96 digs) and Tom Sulima (8 blocks). Ed Gonzalez contributed 107 assists and served 8 aces.
