University Center provides meeting venues, architecture
An interview with Judy Hill at University Center of Lake County Conference Center.
Q: Tell us about the University Center of Lake County.
A: The building was designed exclusively for learning and meetings. We offer the most modern amenities, state of the art technology and flexible space to accommodate virtually any business event. Additionally, we offer more than 100 degree and certificate programs in the evening and on weekends from 21 Illinois colleges and universities.
Q: What's your favorite thing about the venue?
A: My most favorite thing about our venue is the stunning architecture and cleanliness of our building. We have one of the most beautiful buildings in Lake County and the awards to back it up.
Q: What is a hot trend in the industry?
A: The use of technology to enhance meetings and conferences is on the upswing - as you would expect.
For example, videoconferencing is increasingly being used to connect people real time around the country in one virtual event, and we are well positioned to offer such technologies for enhancing and extending meetings.
Q: Is there a connection to the College of Lake County?
A: Yes, we are partners in bringing higher education and other offerings to the local community.
Q: What else should people know about the University Center?
A: We pride ourselves in our friendly staff; offering assistance to all who walk in our doors, including hands on technology and audio visual support at all times.
Q: Describe the atmosphere.
A: Our atmosphere is positive, supportive and friendly.
Q: What about catering options?
A: Our caterer, Notable Event Productions, strives to deliver "a memorable, artful culinary and service experience to each and every guest we serve." We offer an array of food and beverage choices for your event. Whether you need a simple continental breakfast, a variety of lunch options, or even, a sophisticated dinner with cocktails, we can do it all here and all meals are prepared on-site in our full size industrial kitchen.
Q: What is one unusual fact about the center that most may not know?
A: The center was used to film a good portion of the movie "The Last Generation to Die." So we are looking forward to seeing our beautiful building in theaters soon.
