Living Christ volunteers serve summer suppers

Volunteers at Living Christ Lutheran Church, 625 E. Dundee Road, Arlington Heights, served "summer suppers" to members of the community every first Saturday of the month, May to September.

Menu items included salads, fresh vegetables, bread, entrees such as lasagna, chili, bratwurst, hot dogs and hamburgers and desserts and beverages.

Grants from Thrivent Financial helped with food purchases and reflected Thrivent's mission to have its members live and give generously.

In addition, to enjoying a meal at the church, participants could take "to go" bags with crackers, fresh fruit, bottled water, toiletries and other items.

At the last dinner on Sept. 1, guests could also help themselves to articles of clothing, including packages of new underwear. A special treat included blankets made by Living Christ's Prayer Shawl Ministry.
