Elgin Vineyard welcomes new youth pastor

Vineyard Church of Elgin is excited to welcome Tim Caffee, a recent graduate of Judson University in Elgin, as its new youth pastor.

As his main ministry focus, Caffee leads and pastors the youth group, which meets Sundays at 5 p.m. at Vineyard Church, 220 Division St. Students in sixth to 12th grade are invited to attend.

"The sixth through 12th grade range represents some of the most formative years in the walk of faith," Caffee said. "I think it's important to model and teach a life of prayer, time in the Word and fellowship with God, and equally important to model that all of those things are fun.

"My heart for the youth is that they honestly connect with God and they honestly connect with each other," he said. "And that there will be moments that shift the way they look at the world."

Caffee is a worship arts alumnus of Judson, where he toured internationally with the university choir and served on the University Ministries team. His musical gifts are also being put to good use at Vineyard, which has happily found a place for him on the worship team.

This month, Vineyard is offering a four-week adult Sunday school class, "Silencing Shame and Living the Truth," each Sunday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Learn how shame distorts perspective and confuses people into believing Satan's lies about themselves and about God. Also discover how to silence that shame through the power of the Holy Spirit and thrive on God's love in the midst of life's challenges.

"Silencing Shame and Living the Truth" will be taught by Dennis Humphrey, a local mental health counselor and adjunct faculty member at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.
